How to install and debug the telephone optical transceiver

Optical fiber has become the most important transmission medium. The performance advantages such as low loss, long distance and large capacity make it difficult to replace. The optical transceiver uses Fibre Channel to transmit voice, audio and data. It is generally used for optical transmission of service data between two end stations. Installation and debugging are also very simple. There is no installation and debugging work such as PCM equipment and optical transceiver cascade, which is directly fiber access, plug and play. Here is the solution of how to install and debug the telephone optical transceiver about ZMUX-32

1. the scene environment

Under normal circumstances, there are two end stations, the central station and the user station. Users will rent or build one single-core or multi-core Fibre Channel between these two points, or some stations have installed fiber distribution frames. Currently, the most commonly used fiber optic connectors on the market are FC or SC. FC is commonly used in dual-fiber telephone optical transceivers. SC is commonly used in single-fiber telephone optical transceivers, as well as LC, ST and other types of connectors, we can connect the user-supplied fiber to the ZMUX-32 according to the actual situation.

2. equipment installation

A. Equipment acceptance

ZMUX-32 has been installed and debugged according to the actual configuration requirements of the user at the factory, so there is no need to do any operation on the device during installation. A configuration label is attached to the top cover of the device can confirm whether it is in line with actual needs. If necessary, open the upper cover of the chassis and check whether the modules are firmly installed. Remember not to insert the module or insert the wrong pin. Tip: You can configure the label corresponding to the installation to determine which service is out of which interface.

B. telephone optical transceiver installation

ZMUX-32 is installed on a standard 19-inch network cabinet or other location specified by the user, depending on the cabinet or location specified by the user. Place the device in a stable, dry, and safe place. The front and left ends of the front cover of the device are printed with the central office or the remote end. The central office equipment should be placed on the switch side. The remote equipment should be placed on the user side. Do not reverse it.

C. telephone optical transceiver power cord and grounding

The built-in power supply of the ZMUX-32 is -48V, and the power wiring socket is located on the back of the chassis and printed with -48VDC (see the figure below).


Note: When making a power connection, the device's power switch should be turned off. 

a) It is recommended to use industrial power supply + battery floating charge power supply, voltage fluctuation should be within the working conditions. When the user supplies -48V DC power, connect the power cord with the power connector plug in the accessory. Note that when connecting, press the "+" and "-" wires marked above the power plug, and the "+" indicates that connected to "ground", "-" means connected to "-48" power supply, not reversed. The installation must be secure and free of short circuits. Tip: If the "+" and "-" are reversed, the ZMUX-32 can still be turned on, but there will be no power supply.

b) When the user requests direct 220V AC power, use the external power adapter component in the accessory (see the figure below), or directly connect to 220V AC power. Users can also purchase it themselves, requiring an output current of not less than 650mA.


4. telephone optical transceiver equipment link wiring

The ZMUX-32 is available in dual or single fiber access modes. The dual fibers have two optical interfaces, the left side mean receive and the right mean send; the single fiber has only one optical interface, and the receiving and transmitting are implemented on one interface.If the ZMUX-32 the single fiber is directly connected to the optical fiber at both ends of the station. If the fiber connector of the customer is inconsistent with the optical connector of the ZMUX-32 device, we can use a pigtail fiber, one end is connected to the fiber channel end provided by the user, and the other end is connected to the optical connector of the ZMUX-32.

(1). When the ZMUX-32 is connected to the power supply and is not connected to the Fibre Channel, under normal circumstances, only the PWR lights green on the front panel, the LOS lights red, and the other alarm lights are off.

(2). The ZMUX-32 at the center end and the user end are respectively connected to the Fibre Channel provided by the user, and debugged according to the device status indicator.

A: If the ZMUX-32 PWR light is on and the warning light is off, the ZMUX-32 link is connected normally.

B: If the ZMUX-32 LOS light is alarmed at the center and the ZMUX-32 LOS alarm at the user end, the receiving and sending of the two sites are not connected correspondingly. Solution: Adjust the optical connector of the center or  the user's optical connectors.

C: If the ZMUX-32 DA indicator on the central end is alarmed and the ZMUX-32 LOS alarm the user side, the center end or the user end is not connected well, and the center end receives and the user end receives no fault. Solution: Connect again or re-plug the center connector or the client connector.

D: If the ZMUX-32 LOS light is alarmed at the center and the ZMUX-32 DA alarm at the user end, the center end receiving or the user end receiving is not connected well, and the center end sending and receiving end sending are not faulty. Solution: Connect the center end connector or the user end connector or re-plug it.


Tip: The FC pigtail has a small round hole, which needs to be connected to the small round hole of the optical connector of the telephone optical transceiver, otherwise there will be poor contact.

5. telephone optical transceiver user interface wiring

After completing the step 4 device link wiring, under the normal working condition of the ZMUX-32 link, we can start the user port's outgoing line.

(1). The ZMUX-32 back panel has 32 RJ45 interfaces, and the labeled "1" ~ "30" are optional user ports.

(2) . In order to quickly and conveniently determine the location of the selected user interface, the user interface configuration label is attached to the cover of each device, and the small red dot on the label displays the port position corresponding to the user interface selected by the user. (See below)


(3) . For each type of user interface module, the outlet list of the RJ45 subscriber line interface connector can refer to the ZMUX-32 instruction manual.

6.project acceptance

After completing the above installation project and ensuring that it is correct, we can accept the project at this time. Turn on the power switch on the back of the ZMUX-32 power supply. On the user side, we pick up one of the telephones and dial the other 1 telephone extension number.
